During the last 30 years the Auto Industry has seen a
radical departure from V-8 engines, bias ply tires, carburetors, steel body
panels, and drum brakes. Although cars are vastly more expensive than the old
days they definitely are more efficient and
provide more years of service for our customers. Technology has definitely
improved our journey from Point A to Point B.
One thing has
not changed in our industry are our customers poor service habits. It is
unfortunate that the American Consumer knows so little about the second greatest
expense in their budget. Probably half
of your customers want trouble free driving and will pay for regular maintenance
for their cars. The other half drive the car until it breaks and then
complain about the price of the repairs.

Intelligent Chemistry for your car. My name is Ivan Siler and my company,
GO Limited, has been marketing state-of-the-art chemical products to Triad NC
since 1982. My father and I started GO Limited (easy to write on checks/
"hey ho lets go") to distribute Wynn's X-Tend Professional Formula line. When I
left Wynn Oil Company in 1998 I was #4 salesman in the country.
We've done OK.
In 1998 I was recruited to became a direct distributor for
Petro Chemical Products (a division of JM Family/Southeast Toyota) and added
Lubegard and Penray in the following years. I have cherry-picked the finest OE
Grade products in the industry to bring them to you with a level of service and
expertise not found in our market. We have structured a Premium
Maintenance Service Program to upgrade the quality of your services and add a
new Profit Center for your store.
Why is selling Preventative
Maintenance
the best option for you and your
customers?
I have had many discussions with shop owners about should
their store push maintenance or repairs and of course the answer is
both. We want your customers to see you every 90 days for oil changes,
fluid checks, tire rotations, brake inspections, and any little problem they might be having first
of all to help them but more importantly to keep them from shopping your
competition. Its a whole lot easier to keep a satisfied customer than
attract a new one. It is during this 90 day visit you have opportunities build a
good relationship with them, sell
additional PM Services to extend the life of their car, and lock them in as a
lifelong customer. This 90 day service visit is crucial for them and for you!
Figure this: If they do all their PM Services
their car will last longer and they'll save money on car expenses. The
longer their car lasts the longer you can service it and generate service and
repair dollars from their vehicle. If you take care of your customer
they'll bring all their service work to you especially when they're ready to
upgrade to a new vehicle.
"We don't believe in additives. . . . ."
Using additives will not accomplish a mechanical repair. My
industry has misled consumers for years into thinking 'you don't have to fix
that--just pour some this stuff in there.' I'll be the first one to tell you that there are no
miracle cures in a can--if the rods are hanging out of the motor I've got
nothing to fix it! However, 80% of the cars on the road are past due for
scheduled maintenance. And the PMS Program can help extend the life of
their car and generate a profit for you at the same time!

Formulas that actually work. Many of our formulas were designed for the
OE's to their specifications and are still in use today. We communicate
frequently with our manufacturers--and are on a first name basis with the sales
people, chemists, R & D departments, and customer service personnel. We
exchange information from the field with them so they can constantly improve
their products to meet the ever changing automotive industry.
Our products and services can help your customer in several
ways. First good chemistry can compensate for lack of proper service and
restore lost efficiency due to deposits and wear. Secondly if a car
receives regular maintenance it will extend the life of the vehicle beyond what
the manufacturer designed it for. Third, our chemistry will extend the
life of functional fluids and buy the customer some extra time if they go past
due for service.
Unlike a parts house that many times struggles to get you
the right part on time, good chemistry is our only business. NAPA, Car
Quest, Advance, Auto Zone, and O'Reilly's market consumer grade additives that
have flashy labels, lots of advertising, usually a low price, and are considered
impulse buys for their customers. These generic products are only add-on
sales for a parts house--its sad that they know so little about their formulas.
Why should you consider trying to build a new profit center with a partner that
knows so little about this industry?
